At the office of Murphy Dental Group, PLLC, we know that it may seem a bit scary to come to the dentist during the COVID-19 outbreak. But at our office, Dr. Murphy and our team members are taking every step we can to create a safe space where you can get the dental care you need. Read on to learn more about our safety precautions and what you can expect when you contact us for an appointment in Oak Park.
We are requiring all of our patients to complete some paperwork with questions about pre-existing health conditions, exposure to people who have had COVID-19, any symptoms of illness you may have recently experienced, and whether or not you’ve traveled in the last 2 weeks.
In addition, we have made some changes to our waiting area to provide more space for each patient and ensure proper social distancing. We ask that, if possible, you come alone to your appointment. All patients are required to wear masks or face coverings to their appointments at the office of Murphy Dental Group, PLLC.
All of our front office staff are wearing masks to protect their safety and your safety, and our dental team members are wearing additional PPE when appropriate. We’ve always worn eye protection and masks, but now are wearing face shields, gowns, shoe and head coverings, and other PPE when required for your appointment.
In addition, we are leaving all used PPE for disposal or reprocessing in the operatory where it was used, ensuring a minimal risk of cross-contamination between each patient.
We have always followed recommended hand hygiene protocols including washing before and after seeing a patient, before and after putting on gloves, and whenever a team member touches a potentially-contaminated surface.
In addition, we have hand sanitizer available for all of our patients, and we encourage you to wash your hands using our bathroom upon your arrival at the office of Murphy Dental Group, PLLC are welcome to use our bathroom to wash your hands, if you wish
Our team has always followed OSHA, ADA and CDC requirements for cleaning and sanitizing operatories and tools between patients. But now, we are redoubling our efforts to ensure that every one of our rooms is safe and sanitized for our patients.
We are also cleaning frequently-touched surfaces in our office regularly throughout the day. This includes countertops, doorknobs, tables and chairs, bathrooms, and more. This helps provide you with peace of mind, and minimizes the risk of transmitting COVID-19 or any other infectious illness.
